2017 Andrew Goodpaster Prize

The American Veterans Center is proud to partner with the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation to present the 10th Annual Andrew J. Goodpaster Prize & Lecture, honoring excellence in military scholarship. The event will take place June 27 at the Army & Navy Club in downtown Washington, DC.

The Goodpaster Prize honors the legacy of one of the U.S. military’s great ‘soldier-scholars,’ former NATO Commander & West Point Superintendent General Andrew J. Goodpaster. The award is designed to recognize and encourage the work of fellow military scholars in the mold of General Goodpaster, one of the American Veterans Center’s early supporters prior to his passing in 2005.

The 2017 recipient of the Goodpaster Prize will be retired U.S. Navy Admiral James G. Stavridis. Also a former commander of NATO, ADM Stavridis spent over thirty-five years on active service in the U.S. Navy. He commanded destroyers and a carrier strike group in combat, and served for seven years as a four-star admiral, culminating with four years as the sixteenth Supreme Allied Commander at NATO. He holds a PhD in international relations, and is currently Dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Admiral Stavridis has written six books and hundreds of articles on global security issues and leadership.

The 10th Annual Andrew J. Goodpaster Prize & Lecture will take place on Tuesday, June 27 at 7:00 PM at the Army & Navy Club in downtown Washington, DC. For information on attending, please contact the American Veterans Center at 703-302-1012 ext. 220 or e-mail info@americanveteranscenter.org.
