American Veterans Center President Jim Roberts announced today that the AVC had won a Capitol Regional Emmy Award. The Award was for Doolittle’s Raiders: A Final Toast, which was in the Historical Documentary category.

Writer, Producer, and Director of the documentary was Tim Gray, President of the World War II Foundation. The awards ceremony was held at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. The award was accepted by Tim Holbert, AVC’s Executive Director.

In his acceptance remarks Holbert noted that the award came just three days after the death of retired Air force Staff Sergeant David Thatcher, one of the two surviving Doolittle Raiders. Thatcher’s death leaves only Air Force Col. Richard Cole, Gen. Doolittle’s co-pilot on the raid, as the only living survivor of the 80 original Raiders.
