We are saddened to learn of the passing of one of America’s greatest military heroes, Colonel George “Bud” Day.  The Air Force pilot was shot down over Vietnam, and held in the notorious “Hanoi Hilton.”  His leadership among the American POWs earned him tremendous respect, and he would later be awarded the Medal of Honor.   In 2006, when the American Veterans Center inaugurated the Joe Ronnie Hooper Award for service in Vietnam, the choice of the initial honoree was clear from the start: Colonel Bud Day.  A true hero and patriot, Colonel Day will be missed.  Please extend your prayers to his family, and to the many who respected and revered him.  The photos of Bud Day posted below were taken at the AVC 2006 conference
