Having served in the Navy for more than a decade, Ernest Borgnine was a recipient of the Navy Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the American Campaign Medal among others.

Not only did Ernest Borgnine stand out on the military stage, but he also was a renowned actor. Having received an Oscar for his performance in Marty in 1955, Borgnine went on to be a familiar face in the households of many starring in the show McHale’s Navy.

Borgnine served our country both on entertainment and military theaters, he was truly a man of great talent. The American Veterans Center is proud to say that such an honorable man was the 2009 Grand Marshal of the National Memorial Day Parade.
