On Thursday evening, a reception will be held at the United States Navy Memorial. This reception will feature an exclusive preview screening of WWII in HD, the upcoming Mini-Series produced for the HISTORY Channel by Lou Reda Productions.
– U.S. Navy Memorial’s Arleigh Burke Theater (Reception at 6:00, Screening at 7:00)
Featuring –
Col. Jimmie Kanaya – Veteran of the 442nd Regimental Combat team.
Shelby Westbrook – Decorated pilot of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen.
Jack Yusen – U.S. Navy veteran and survivor of the sinking of the USS Samuel Roberts in the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Note: Bus transportation available from Renaissance Hotel to Navy Memorial – departs 5:30 PM – Returns following event.

Friday evening a reception will be held at the exclusive Army and Navy Club in downtown Washington, DC in honor of our Wounded Warriors from Walter Reed Army Medical Center with Special Guests, Recipients of the Medal of Honor – Coat and tie required at the Club
Note: Bus transportation available from Renaissance Hotel to Army & Navy Club – departs 6:30 PM – Returns following event.

MLB Hall of Famer and World War II vet Monte Irvin, and  former MLB player and World War II vet Lou Brissie with Wounded Warriors from Walter Reed Memorial Hospital at a reception honoring baseball players who were also WWII heroes at the 2008 conference. Brissie's leg was shattered into 30 pieces when he was wounded in Italy. Determined to make it to the big leagues, Brissie returned to the States, undergoing 23 operations and hours of rehab before his debut with the Philadelphia A's.
