Major Thomas C. Griffin

On April 18, 1942 the U.S. Army Air Corps executed an air raid on Tokyo led by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, eventually dubbed the “Doolittle Raid.” The Raid was successful in catching the Japanese off-guard, as well as boosting the morale of American citizens – which was quite low following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Major Thomas Carson Griffin was the Navigator of Crew 9 during the raid. Major Griffin recounts the experience, as well as his time with the Army Air Corps throughout the Second World War.
